LAURA CRUTCHFIELD

Laura Crutchfield was born in Frankfurt, Germany, and lived for many years in Berlin, where she had a successful first career as a stage actor at two of Europe’s most renowned companies: the Berliner Ensemble and the Schaubühne. Her career took her all over the world and brought her into contact with extraordinary people of all backgrounds and interests.

Soon after the birth of their second child, she and her husband decided it was time to leave the big city and move to a place where the beauty of nature, the friendliness of the people, and the richness of local culture make for an excellent quality of life. Having visited Western North Carolina on numerous occasions before, they knew that Asheville was the place!

Laura is delighted to be pursuing a career in real estate in her new hometown. She finds that much of what became second nature to her in theatre translates perfectly into her new profession: hard work, candor, a cheerful attitude, as well as the ability to be fully present, to listen well, to respond openly and empathetically, and above all: to be truly interested in other people’s hopes, visions, and dreams. She loves putting these personal qualities into action for her clients. Moreover, as a European with close ties to Asheville, she has an excellent perspective on what makes Asheville special, and a rich sense of what it means to be a part of this extraordinary, diverse and dynamic community.

And she hasn’t given up theatre entirely: she and her husband, an award-winning playwright, continue to be active in Asheville’s lively independent theatre scene.
